'Unbelievable' - Sky Sports pundit delivers verdict on Tottenham deadline day signing
By Aramide Oladipo
Tony Cascarino has heaped huge praise on new Tottenham signing Serge Aurier and claimed that he will “fit perfectly” into their style of play this season.
The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the North London club on the final day of the summer transfer window in a deal worth £23million from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The full-back was one of five players to complete a move to Spurs this summer including Paulo Gazzaniga, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth and Fernando Llorente.
Writing in his column for the Times, Cascarino, who has a weekly slot on Sky Sports, believes that the Ivorian is a great addition to the Spurs squad but also feels that he might cause trouble off the pitch.
“Aurier will be the first name on Mauricio Pochettino’s team sheet when he is playing well and the first out of the door when things are going wrong,” he wrote.

“His history off the pitch balances what he does on it. What Aurier will bring to the Spurs team is speed at distance.
“The 24-year-old right back is unbelievable at getting up and down the line and he will fit perfectly into the way Tottenham play. He is lighting quick, the kind of player whose burst of pace will get the crowd on its feet.”
Aurier will compete with Kevin Trippier for the right full-back position and he will be able to offer similar attributes to former defender Kyle Walker who joined Premier League rivals Manchester City this summer.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will also be hopeful that the defender can add a winning mentality to the squad after winning two Ligue 1 titles with PSG and the African Cup of Nations tournament with the Ivory Coast national team.
The defender could potentially make his Spurs debut against Everton at Goodison Park next weekend.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was the mastermind behind this player’s deadline day deal to the club.
