Celtic mainstay could miss clash v Rangers after Wednesday announcement
COMMENT
Celtic are set to face a unique dilemma for the upcoming Old Firm clash against Rangers as it is as yet unknown if Mikael Lustig will be suspended for the game or not.
The Swedish international, a mainstay of the side this season with 40 appearances, was set to miss out on the league match against Dundee on Wednesday night as he was sent off in the weekend victory over Aberdeen.
However, it was announced on Wednesday that the match against Dundee was postponed due to the arctic weather in Glasgow, so as it stands he may miss the Old Firm derby as it is due to be the next league match played by the Hoops.
Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers will hope to have the Dundee game played next midweek so Lustig is available for the Old Firm derby, but that will depend on the Hoops’ weekend Scottish Cup tie with Morton going ahead.
If the Morton game is cancelled, then it will be played next midweek, and the Dundee match will be postponed to a later date.
If Lustig is ruled out of the derby, it could lead to a start for 19-year-old Anthony Ralston, who has already faced PSG this season so won’t be phased by playing in one of the biggest derbies in World football.
