Unlucky Brendan, you're nowhere near No 1 in five greatest ever Celtic managers

COMMENT

Celtic are lucky to have been blessed with some wonderful managers in the club’s history…and some not so wonderful ones.

Nevertheless, even the managers who weren’t the very best in the job – Ronny Deila, Davie Hay, to name but two – still had notable moments of triumph at Celtic Park.

The same can’t be said for the likes of Lou Macari and John Barnes, whose spells at the club were mercifully very brief, and both men left without causing too much damage.

Some managers have been unlucky, the bounce of the ball or lack of money denying the likes of Liam Brady and especially Tommy Burns the trophies that their football deserved.

However, football is all about glory, and the Hoops have been fortunate enough to have managers who have lead them to the very top in not only Scottish but European football, and that is what we are going to examine.
