‘Unstoppable’ Haaland will ‘destroy’ one Rangers player – McAvennie

Frank McAvennie has warned Erling Haaland could “destroy” the Rangers’ defence when Dortmund arrive at Ibrox.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, predicts Connor Goldson will be unable to cope with the striker.

On Monday (13 December) Rangers drew Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League play-off round.

The winner of the tie will seal their place in the Europa League knockout rounds.

Dortmund’s star striker, Haaland, has 11 goals in nine Bundesliga outings this season.

McAvennie has been impressed by Dortmund and claims Haaland is “unstoppable”, even on a bad day.

“All the pundits were talking about was Jude Bellingham,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sat there thinking, ‘these guys have one of the best, if not the best, striker in the world’.

“He’s coming up against Connor Goldson. He will destroy that backline.

“On the face of it, it’s a great tie for Rangers. It’s another great team coming to Ibrox.

“It will be one of their great European nights. The only better team they could have had was Barcelona so they are up against it.

“Even on an off day, Haaland is unstoppable. If he is fit and firing it could get ugly.

“That’s nothing against Rangers, Dortmund are just so good at the moment and they have some serious talent.

“Bellingham and Haaland, they are just the big names. They have so much talent.”
