Unsung hero starts in Pochettino 4-2-3-1: Tottenham best XI to face Liverpool

By Dominic Toner

Tottenham should name an unchanged starting line-up for their Premier League game against Liverpool on Saturday and keep unsung hero Heung-Min Son in the side.

The north London club travel to Anfield for a crucial league match and will go six points behind leaders Chelsea with a victory.

Spurs will still be without senior defender Jan Vertonghen as he recovers, while Danny Rose is reportedly set to miss the rest of February after a knee injury.

However, the absence of Rose has meant manager Mauricio Pochettino has switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation and ditched the wing-back system, allowing attacker Son to fit into the side.

Son, 24, is the most under valued member of the Spurs squad as he always gives 100 per cent when on the pitch for the team.

The South Korea has also shown a real eye for goal this season, scoring 11 goals and supplying six assists in 29 appearances.

Pochettino should stick with the same starting XI that beat Middlesbrough 1-0 in their last game as they should have enough to trouble an out-of-form Liverpool.

Spurs’ defensive set-up picks itself with Hugo Lloris the number one goalkeeper, while Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier partner each other at centre-back in the absence of Vertonghen.

Kyle Walker will provide great energy at right-back, while Wales international Ben Davies is certainly a good enough replacement for Rose.

Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama should consider in the centre of midfield and are capable of dominating the game if they play well.

Son should join Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli in attack, while top goalscorer Harry Kane leads the line.
