‘Useless’, ‘Embarrassing’ – Celtic fans rip into enforcer as unbeaten run ends v Hearts

Celtic fans have destroyed defender Dedryck Boyata for his performance in the 4-0 defeat to Hearts on Sunday afternoon, as the Hoops’ 69-match unbeaten domestic run was brought to an end in humiliating fashion.

The 27-year-old endured a difficult afternoon at Tynecastle as Brendan Rodgers’ side were totally outplayed.

The 69-match run is an incredible achievement but Celtic fans were not happy with the manner of their defeat and Boyata came in for heavy individual criticism.

Celtic fans were furious with the defender for his part in Celtic’s downfall and took to social media to express their frustration.

Hearts took the lead through a fantastic strike from 16-year-old Harry Cochrane on 26 minutes. Kyle Lafferty doubled their lead with a brilliant 20-yard drive in off the base of the post.

Things went from bad to worse for the Hoops three minutes after half-time with David Milinkovic rounding goalkeeper Craig Gordon to make it 3-0.

Hearts were then awarded a penalty after Gordon fouled Ross Callachan, Milinkovic made it 4-0 by smashing the spot-kick low and hard into the corner of the net.

Boyata was also involved in a confrontation with Cochrane, but escaped with a warning from the referee.

It is Celtic’s first domestic defeat since the 2-1 loss at St Johnstone in May 2016, 585 days ago. It was the first time they had failed to score in 74 domestic matches.
