Attacker swoop utterly pointless: Celtic summer signings rated

COMMENT By James Black

Brendan Rodgers had a near-impossible task when it came to his signings for Celtic in the summer.

After an unbeaten domestic treble – and no senior players retiring or leaving – Rodgers didn’t really have much to do over the summer.

The Hoops boss ended up making five signings as he added some depth to his ‘Invincibles’ in their bid for an seventh consecutive Scottish title.

Just over three months into the new campaign and Celtic are top of the Scottish Premiership, in the Scottish League Cup final and on the brink of securing European football after Christmas.

With such a long-standing and consistent squad – nine of last weekend’s starting XI were involved under previous Ronny Deila – Rodgers hasn’t needed to make massive changes to his squad in his 18 months in charge.
