Victor Valdes has sent a goodbye message to Manchester United supporters as he prepares to join Standard Liege.
The Spanish goalkeeper is finally set to end his United hell as he closes in on a loan move to the Belgian club until the end of the season.
As reported by Football Insider earlier on Thursday, the two clubs are confident a loan deal can be completed in the next 24 hours.
Valdes gave a clear signal that his United career is over as he took to social media site Twitter on Thursday morning.
He Tweeted: “Thank you for your support during these months of hard work for me, i will never forget! See you soon!”
Standard Liege have offered Valdes an escape route from Old Trafford after he revealed last November that he was “fighting to be free” from the Premier League.
Valdes has been frozen out at by Louis van Gaal after refusing to play for United’s Under-21s last season.
The 33-year-old former Barcelona No1 signed an 18-month contract with the Premier League club a year ago but has made just two first-team appearances.

Valdes had been ostracised from the United first team set-up following Van Gaal’s decision not to take him on the tour of USA.
He has not featured this season and was overlooked at the start of the campaign in favour of Argentine Sergio Romero when David de Gea’s future was in doubt.
