Arsenal defender boost: Talks underway to secure replacement for Wenger target - report
By Joe Nelson
Valencia are keen on taking Manchester City flop Eliaquim Mangala on loan if Arsenal succeed in their pursuit of Shkodran Mustafi, according to a report.
The Evening Standard claim the Spanish club are in talks to sign Mangala as they line him up as a replacement for Mustafi.
It is said that Valencia want to sign Mangala on loan but City would prefer a permanent deal.
Following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista, Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing in another defensive option before that start of the new season, with Mustafi his prime target.
Mangala joined City in 2014 for a reported £32million, but it was later reported that the fee was closer to £42million.

The France international has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League since his move from Porto.
Guardiola added statement signing John Stones to The Citizens’ ranks on Tuesday morning in a £47.5m deal, which may limit Mangala’s opportunities at Etihad Stadium.
The France international has made eight appearances for his national side and is contracted at City until June 2019.
He has appeared 64 times for City since his move from Porto in 2014, but has never really cemented his place in the side, following a string of unconvincing performances.
Wenger is also said to be interested in West Brom defender and former Manchester United man Jonny Evans.
