Van Bronckhorst will be 'all over' luring Doekhi to Rangers after £2m reveal today - McLeish

Alex McLeish has insisted Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be pulling strings in the Netherlands to seal the signing of Danilho Doekhi at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers boss suggested the Dutch manager will be using his “contacts” to run the rule over the Vitesse Arnhem 23-year-old.

As reported by the Daily Record today (13 January), Van Bronckhorst is a major admirer of the centre-back and pushing for a deal.

The Vitesse defender is out of contract this summer, meaning the Dutch side could lose him on a free.

As such, they are reportedly willing to sell for £2million this month.

McLeish suggested Van Bronckhorst would be using his contact book to assess Doekhi and potentially get a deal done.

McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge; “When the Dutch guys become available, Giovanni will be all over it in some way, shape or form.

“In terms of the guys he’s got, contacts over there, there’s no doubt that Giovanni will know what’s happening in Holland.

“He would actually chastise himself if he wasn’t ready to pluck one of the good Dutch players. Whether it be a goalkeeper, centre-back, midfield, forward, whatever.

“He’ll have a dossier with his analysts of the players that could enhance Rangers.”

Van Bronckhorst has already seen Doekhi play in person from his time as Feyenoord manager.

The defender started both of Vitesse’s league games against Van Bronckhorst’s men during the 2018/19 season.

Doekhi saw red for two bookings in the first meeting as Feyenoord ran out 2-1 winners.

He then helped Vitesse to a 1-1 draw later in the season.
