Van de Ven and Ramazani respond after Josuha Guilavogui sends ‘done’ Leeds message

Largie Ramazani and Micky van de Ven both had messages for Josuha Guilavogui after Leeds United sealed the Championship title.

Leeds‘ historic campaign culminated with a dramatic victory at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday thanks to Manor Solomon’s winner in the 91st minute, to ensure Daniel Farke’s side beat Burnley to top spot.

Both the Whites and the Clarets finished on 100 points – the first time two teams have done so in the second tier – but Leeds’ superior goal difference of +65 ensured that the title returns to Elland Road.

Farke, Leeds’ recruitment team and 49ers Enterprises will soon be immersed in the transfer market as United prepare for a crucial summer of business, and that could include contract talks with a key player.

Josuha Guilavogui rallies Leeds fans with ‘Done’ message

Leeds’ record points tally has been achieved by a well-drilled squad composed of players old and young, with the likes of Patrick Bamford limited in terms of on-field impact but still important around the group.

Guilavogui is arguably the embodiment of such a role since his arrival at Elland Road as a free agent in October; and has excelled as a senior member of Farke’s team despite being limited to cameo appearances.

The Frenchman’s popularity is evidenced by Joel Piroe and Wilfried Gnonto’s pleas for Leeds to keep Guilavogui in the fold, and as they returned to LS11 with the trophy in hand, he posted on Instagram (4 May).

Guilavogui’s message for Leeds’ fans said: “It is Spoken – It is Written – It is Done. HISTORY”, and after his former Wolfsburg team-mate Van de Ven left a ‘fire’ emoji for the 34-year-old, while Ramazani said: “You are a legend to me!”

Josuha Guilavogui contract decision looms at Leeds United

With Farke set to stay put as Leeds manager next season after speculation aplenty over his long-term future at Elland Road, the final call on the contracts of Junior Firpo, Sam Byram and Guilavogui will be his.

There is no room for sentiment in LS11 despite Leeds’ record-breaking promotion, and Football Insider revealed neither Bamford nor Championship top-scorer Piroe are seen as good enough for the top-flight.

Guilavogui’s off-field impact has far outweighed what he’s brought on it amid a tense and long-winded Championship title charge, but as his contract winds down, it’s unclear if Farke will elect to keep him as a senior member of a Premier League-level squad.
