Van de Ven sends emotional Tottenham message to fans – ‘Words can’t describe…’
Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven took to social media to express his joy after making his return from injury in their 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg on Thursday (January 30).
The 23-year-old played the first 45 minutes as Ange Postecoglu’s struggling side secured a spot in the Europa League round of 16 with a fourth-placed finish in the new-look league phase.
Van de Ven had missed Tottenham’s previous 14 games across all competitions but teased his potential return ahead of the game against Elfsborg.
Academy stars Dane Scarlett, Damola Ajayi, and Mikey Moore all scored in the last 20 minutes to a much-needed home win, an achievement captain Hueng-Min Son took to social media to commemorate.
Spurs have seriously struggled with injuries so far this season, with a source exclusively telling Football Insider that is the problem, not Postecoglu.

The centre-back was key for Spurs before the injury, starting all 12 of his games across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing two assists in his 939 minutes of action.
Van de Ven took to Instagram to express his joy at finally making his return, saying: “Words can’t describe how happy I am to be back.”

Postecoglu’s side could be set for a busy end to the January transfer window, with one Spurs legend stunned by a potential deal for wonderkid Mathys Tel.
Tottenham will doubtless be hoping qualification to the next round of the Europa League will kickstart their Premier League campaign as they travel to Brentford on Sunday (February 2).
