Van de Ven shares injury update after devastating Tottenham blow

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven took to social media to share an injury update after his most recent setback.

The 23-year-old has been out of action since early December after picking up a hamstring injury in Tottenham’s 4-3 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.

Van de Ven had missed eight games before being rushed back by manager Ange Postecoglu for the game against Chelsea with a similar injury.

Spurs have confirmed on social media that the Dutch centre-back has returned to training and is running on grass for the first time since his injury.

Tottenham currently have nine players out injured and have subsequently tumbled down the Premier League table, currently sitting in 15th with 24 points from their 23 games.

The defender had been key for Spurs before his most recent injury setback, starting all 11 of his appearances across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing two assists in his 894 minutes of action.

Van de Ven took to Instagram to share a video originally posted by the club of himself in their most recent training session.

Tottenham’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Leicester City leaves them just eight points off the relegation zone, with Wolves in 18th.

Postecoglu’s side will host Swedish side Elfsborg on Thursday (January 30) for their final Europa League league phase game.
