Van Dijk and Endo react to Luis Diaz’s message after Liverpool offer news

Luis Diaz has jetted off on international duty as speculation over his cuture at Liverpool continues this summer.

Arne Slot has quickly sought to strengthen his title-winning Reds team in a bid to build on their Premier League success this term, which saw Liverpool canter to a 20th league crown with four games to spare.

Liverpool failed to win their last four games of the campaign with the title in the bag, but still finished 10 points clear of second-placed Arsenal and have already wrapped up the signing of Jeremie Frimpong.

Frimpong’s £29.5million move from Bayer Leverkusen could soon be followed by the arrival of his former team-mate Florian Wirtz, and has arguably filled the gap left by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit already.

Wirtz won’t come cheap after Football Insider revealed that Leverkusen have rejected Liverpool’s first bid of £110m, and will likely result in several current Reds players being shown the exit door at Anfield.

Diaz departure on the cards amid Liverpool transfer update

Slot’s preferred players in several positions have been made clear with the Liverpool boss criticised at times for his squad rotation, but Diaz fell out of both favour and form towards the end of the season.

A potential bid of £71m from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr could be too good to turn down for Liverpool, but Diaz’s full focus for the time being will be Colombia’s matches against Peru and Argentina.

The 28-year-old posted on Instagram (4 June) from Los Cafeteros’ international camp with a ‘heart eyes’ camp and a Colombia flag, and Liverpool team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Wataru Endo both left a like.

Liverpool to rush through exits as Slot rebuild continues

Although the likes of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa are far more likely candidates to leave Anfield this summer, Wirtz’s impending arrival will have a greater effect on Diaz’s position within the squad.

Slot is on the hunt for a new number nine as well as a potential left winger, and given they’re the two positions Diaz has operated in this season, the writing is on the wall for his long-term future at Liverpool.

Football Insider revealed in April that Liverpool have held talks with Ibrahima Konate, Diogo Jota and Diaz over their futures, and all three could be set for pastures new this summer as Slot ushers in a new era.
