Van Dijk reacts to Mac Allister’s message after what he did to Brazil

Virgil van Dijk was among several Liverpool players showing appreciation for Alexis Mac Allister after his standout performance for Argentina, even as speculation continues to swirl around the Dutch defender’s future.

Mac Allister enjoyed a memorable international break, finding the net with a brilliant goal in Argentina’s commanding 4-1 victory over Brazil on 26 March.

Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez, and Giuliano Simeone also got on the scoresheet in a dominant win in their World Cup qualifier, while Brazil’s only goal came after Matheus Cunha capitalised on a mistake from Cristian Romero.

Following the win, Mac Allister took to social media to celebrate, drawing plenty of reactions from his Liverpool teammates and beyond.

Liverpool bracing for Virgil van Dijk exit amid interest

Mac Allister took to Instagram after Argentina’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Brazil, writing: “Victory at home, goal, and the biggest joy on the way. Vamos Argentina.”

The post drew reactions from several Liverpool teammates, including Ryan Gravenberch, Darwin Nunez, and Van Dijk, who all liked the update.

However, attention at Liverpool remains firmly on Van Dijk’s future, as the Dutch defender is yet to sign a new contract and could leave as a free agent this summer.

Liverpool supporters have blamed owners FSG for the uncertainty surrounding their key players. With Trent Alexander-Arnold edging closer a move to Real Madrid, the possibility of losing both in the same window is a major concern.

Martin Keown suggested that Van Dijk has received multiple offers from clubs in January, with speculation mounting that he may have had his head turned.

Liverpool eye Dean Huijsen as potential Virgil van Dijk replacement

With Van Dijk’s future unresolved, the Reds appear to be preparing for life without their captain.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are targeting Dean Huijsen this summer, with the highly-rated centre-back having a £50 million release clause in his Bournemouth contract.

Liverpool won’t be the only club in the race, as Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring Huijsen, with their fans calling for the club to make a move.

The Dutch defender was also on international duty over the break, but now, like Mac Allister, he shifts focus back to club football—despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Liverpool’s defensive future.
