Van Nistelrooy: This is what I heard Kane's Tottenham teammates really think of him
By Harry Sykes
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been blown away by “great professional” Harry Kane and claimed he is “very popular” with his teammates.
Kane netted twice for England in their 4-0 win over Malta at the weekend and is becoming a reliable goalscorer for his country as well as his club.
The Spurs striker has won the Premier League Golden Boot the last two seasons and while he has not scored for his club yet this season, he is widely regarded as one of Europe’s outstanding front men.
Manchester United legend Van Nistelrooy has been impressed by Kane’s overall record and performances.
“Harry Kane to me looks like a great professional, somebody who works hard to get the maximum out of himself,” Van Nistelrooy told the Mirror. “He shows that out on the pitch.

“I think for Spurs he is a great player, a leader as well. That also goes for England. Added to that of course he is a great goalscorer.
“He is a true No9, a strong and forceful centre-forward who is always a reference point during the build-up play.”
The Dutchman, who struck an incredible 150 goals in 219 games for United, now coaches the youngsters at his former club PSV Eindhoven but remains a keen follower of English football.
Kane gets Van Nistelrooy’s vote when it comes to England boss Gareth Southgate choosing who should captain the national side.
“Nothing seems to phase Harry Kane,” he added. “He takes everything in his stride. I hear he is very popular with the other players and I wouldn’t hesitate to make him captain.”
Kane is set to lead the England front line once again on Monday night when they host Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley.
