Van Nistelrooy ‘pulls rug out from unbelievable Leicester duo with transfer aim’
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s January transfer plans could usurp a Leicester City pairing he heaped praise on just days before.
The Dutchman made an excellent start to life as Foxes manager on Tuesday night (3 December), beating West Ham 3-1 in his first game in charge of the club.
Goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannous and Patson Daka secured a big three points for his new side at King Power Stadium.
However, the new Leicester City boss was also keen to compliment the performances of Boubakary Soumare and Wilfred Ndidi in the holding midfield roles, describing the pair as “unbelievable” [via the club’s official website].
Now though, it appears the pair might already be at risk of coming under pressure for their places in the side, judging by the latest transfer rumours to emerge around the club.
Ruud van Nistelrooy wants Man United man at Leicester City
With the Foxes still in a relegation battle, they will need to strengthen their side in the January transfer window, and are already being linked with potential targets.
The latest of those is Man United midfielder Toby Collyer, with The Sun reporting that Van Nistelrooy is keen to use his contracts at Old Trafford to sign the 20-year-old on loan for the Foxes.
That though, could raise some questions about the Dutchman’s plans for Soumare and Ndidi at Leicester, at least in the short-term.
It is noted that Man United could be willing to sanction a move to the King Power Stadium for Collyer, as they know he would play regular senior football under Van Nistelrooy.
Indeed, the 48-year-old is said to be a big fan of the Red Devils prospect, having worked with him during his time as assistant to Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
So with that meaning there is a good chance Collyer will play regularly if he makes a move to Leicester in January, it will put at least one of Ndidi and Soumare under pressure.

With the Man United youngster someone who operates in the same holding midfield role as the Foxes duo, there is a chance that expectation he plays will push one of them out of the starting XI.
Considering the excellent start they have made under Van Nistelrooy, either players may feel hard done by if they are dropped after continuing that form.
Both are established and experienced players, so losing their place to a relatively untested young loanee may also add to insult to injury there.
With that in mind, Van Nistelrooy may have some work to do when it comes to squad management, if he pull off this transfer raid on Man United for Leicester.
In other news, conversely one man looks set for a major lift with the Foxes after a perfectly-timed performance.
