‘Very messy’ – Yoane Wissa admission made amid Brentford exit saga
Yoane Wissa has taken an unusual step by unfollowing Brentford on Instagram as he looks to force a move away from the West London club.
Newcastle have eyed a move for Wissa, who has also deleted all the photos of himself playing for Keith Andrews’ men from his account.
Brentford have already lost former star players this summer, including Manchester United’s new boy Bryan Mbeumo and midfielder Christian Norgaard.
Meanwhile, Brentford’s first match under Keith Andrews, after Thomas Frank joined Tottenham, resulted in a 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 17 August.

Wissa situation dubbed ‘messy’ as Brentford exit saga takes fresh twist
Brentford could be set for yet another blow in the transfer market, as both Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in Nathan Collins.
The defender played a key role for the Bees last term, making 42 appearances across all competitions as the West London club finished in the Premier League’s top half.
Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs wrote on X on Monday, 18 August: “Yoane Wissa has unfollowed Brentford, changed his profile picture to black and removed all club photos from his Instagram account as he looks to leave the club.
“Wissa’s move to Newcastle is currently being blocked by Brentford, as exclusively revealed earlier with Alex Crook.”
TalkSPORT’s chief football correspondent, Crook, quoted the post and added: “This one is getting very messy.”
Wissa antics could scupper Newcastle move
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle need to sign a new striker amid Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak, while Callum Wilson joined West Ham on a free transfer.
Consequently, the Magpies had to play Anthony Gordon as a centre-forward during their 0-0 draw with Aston Villa in the West Midlands on Saturday, 16 August.
Even though the North East side could be desperate to add a new striker to their ranks if Isak succeeds in forcing a move to Liverpool, Wissa’s behaviour does not portray him as a good professional.

Appearances | 35 |
Goals | 19 |
Assists | 4 |
Therefore, Eddie Howe’s men could look elsewhere instead of signing the 28-year-old who scored 19 goals in 35 Premier League appearances for the Bees last term.
Amid the speculation surrounding his future, Wissa didn’t feature for Andrews’ men in their defeat at the City Ground.
Meanwhile, both Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi played for Crystal Palace in their draw against Chelsea on 17 August, despite transfer interest in their services.
The Palace duo have conducted themselves in a better manner than either Wissa or Isak.
