‘Victor Osimhen is the perfect Chelsea signing’ – fans react to John Obi Mikel’s claim
Victor Osimhen’s future has once again become a hot topic among Chelsea fans after former Blues midfielder John Obi Mikel made an intriguing claim about the striker.
Osimhen has been repeatedly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and speculation only intensified during the January transfer window. However, instead of securing a Premier League switch, the Nigerian striker stayed on loan at Galatasaray.
Despite being frozen out at Napoli last summer, Osimhen has not let it affect his performances. He has been in red-hot form in Turkey, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists this season, proving exactly why clubs continue to circle for his signature.
Football Insider previously revealed that Chelsea had considered signing Osimhen in January, by triggering a break clause in his Galatasaray loan deal, but ultimately, no move materialised. Instead, Enzo Maresca’s side opted against signing any attacking reinforcements.
Now, Mikel’s latest comments have reignited rumours, adding another twist to the ongoing saga surrounding Osimhen’s next move.

Victor Osimhen ‘really wants’ to move to Chelsea
Mikel has fuelled speculation over Osimhen’s future after revealing the striker’s strong desire to join Chelsea.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Mikel discussed potential striker options for the Blues and highlighted his Nigerian compatriot Osimhen as an ideal target.
He said: “I know exactly where we stopped. If we have to pick it up again in the summer, it’s just pretty easy to get it done because the player really wants to come to the football club.
“If you’re talking about a striker to come in and help Chelsea Football Club, you have to talk about Alexander Isak and you have to talk about Victor Osimhen. For me, these are the top two strikers.”
It was previously revealed in November that Chelsea were prepared to move for Osimhen if Christopher Nkunku had left the club in the winter window.
Nkunku was linked with a switch to Manchester United, but with Joao Felix also departing, no move materialised, and Chelsea opted against strengthening their frontline.
That decision quickly backfired, as shortly after the window closed, both Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu suffered injuries, leaving the club short of striking options.
Chelsea fans have criticised the board for failing to secure a new forward in January, with Chelsea now resorting to using Pedro Neto as a makeshift striker.

Chelsea fans call for Osimhen signing after Mikel’s remarks
Osimhen’s goalscoring record has been nothing short of extraordinary wherever he has played, and he is on course to fire Galatasaray to a league title—just as he did with Napoli.
If he does become available this summer, competition for his signature is expected to be fierce, with Arsenal also expressing interest in Osimhen in January.
However, Mikel’s latest comments may have given Chelsea the upper hand in any potential transfer battle, with fans already showing excitement at the prospect of Osimhen leading the line at Stamford Bridge. One said: “We need Osimhen at our club” while another added “I really do feel Osimhen is the perfect fit for us”.
