Victor Osimhen to Man United: O’Rourke shares ‘huge’ update
Man United will find a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen a “difficult deal to do” in the off-season, sources have told Football Insider.
The Red Devils remain a big draw for world-class players but United will not have big money to spend in the summer window.
It is believed United will have to sell players to fund an assault on the transfer window this summer.
And in a double blow, the Old Trafford club will also find Osimhen’s wage demands prohibitive.
Man United must sell players to afford Osimhen
He earns huge money in his Napoli contract but United are trying to rein in their wage structure and move on many of the club’s top earners.
Osimhen has spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan with Turkish side Galatasaray after falling out with his parent club in Italy.
Season | Goals (Appearances) |
2024-25 | 22 (28) |
2023-24 | 17 (32) |
2022-23 | 31 (39) |
2021-22 | 18 (32) |
2020-21 | 10 (30) |
He has hit 22 goals and notched five assists in 28 appearances across all competitions this season – starting in 25 of those outings.
Man United are looking for a new striker despite signing Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in back-to-back summers.
Hojlund has hit just seven goals this term, while Zirkzee has managed only five strikes since joining from Bologna.

Delap could be Osimhen alternative at Man United
Another striker being eyed by Man United is Liam Delap, who has performed well at Ipswich Town this season despite their struggles.
Football Insider has been told by former Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown (20 February) that Ipswich will demand a “huge” fee to sell Delap this summer amid interest from the likes of United and Chelsea.
Brown claimed it could take £40million to land the 22-year-old – who is wanted by top Premier League sides.
Ipswich paid £20million to sign Delap from Man City last summer (2024), and he has scored ten goals in 26 Premier League games this term.
