With eight matches of the season remaining, Leeds United’s season hangs in the balance.
Marcelo Bielsa’s third-placed side aim to get back to winning ways tomorrow when they host Millwall, who have proved notoriously difficult opponents in the past.
For the seventh consecutive match, the Argentine manager will be unable to call upon leading scorer Kemar Roofe, who is once again absent with the knee injury he sustained at Swansea City in the middle of last month.
However, United fans will be going wild with delight at the unexpected news delivered by Bielsa at his media conference yesterday.
As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the United manager explained that Roofe is set to return for Leeds’ next-but-one game, against Birmingham City on 6 April.
It means the 26-year-old will be available for the promotion run-in, and Bielsa will be in the luxurious and highly unusual position – barring any more injuries at Elland Road tomorrow – of having a fully-fit squad to choose from.
That is brilliant news for Leeds, as Roofe has gone to a new level this season, adding greater cutting edge, movement and work ethic to what was an already impressive skill-set.
A return of 14 goals from 26 league matches is extremely impressive, even more so when considered within the wider picture of how he adds so much to the team with his all-round game.
The prospect of strike duo Roofe and Patrick Bamford being in harness with Pablo Hernandez, Mateusz Klich and company is a mouthwatering and enough to get Leeds fans excited for the run-in.
In other Leeds United team news, it can be REVEALED that the club are to hold talks with three brilliant players ahead of the summer transfer window.
