‘Viktor Gyokeres is going to Arsenal – far preferable to joining Man United circus’
Ruben Amorim is keen to make the most of his relationship with Viktor Gyokeres to bring him to Man United this summer.
Football Insider revealed on 13 June that Man United are working overtime to sign Gyokeres as Amorim makes it clear he is the number one target.
However, Arsenal are also keen on the striker – and also have RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko on the shortlist at the Emirates Stadium.
United will have no European football next term, while Arsenal will play in the Champions League after finishing runners-up in the Premier League.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested United could be headed for humiliation as the race for Gyokeres hots up.

‘Amorim doesn’t have the pull’ to get Gyokeres deal done, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he believes Amorim does not have “the pull” to bring Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
It has been widely reported that Sporting want Gyokeres’ full release clause of around £85million in order to sanction an exit – news which has reportedly angered the striker.
Wyness insisted it is no longer a “no-brainer” for high-quality talent to join Man United.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Does Ruben Amorim have the pull?
“I don’t think he does, and I think that the advisors to Gyokeres can see that coming into a settled squad like Arsenal would be far preferable than coming into the circus that is becoming Man United.
“So I don’t think he’s going to go and that’s another example of a potential player that fans and sponsors will start to look at.
“Before, it would have been a no-brainer you’d have gone to Man United. Now you’re finding that they may not go to United that easily.
“Although Cunha was the first one off the block this year in a financial transaction, it was a good sign of intent, but I don’t think they’re going to be able to follow it up that easily with some other quality players.
“I don’t think Gyokeres is going to end up at Man United. I do think he’s going to go to Arsenal.
“So let’s just see where that goes. But having Amorim there and him potentially not going, I think is very damning.”

Man United push to sign World Cup winner
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (20 June) that Man United are still pushing to agree a deal with Aston Villa over goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Sources say United have been in regular contact with the 32-year-old and are “ringing him every day” to get a deal over the line in the coming weeks.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 19 June that Martinez has his heart set on Atletico Madrid, who recently joined the race for his signature.
