Viktor Gyokeres reacts to Gustavo Hamer’s Sheffield Utd message amid Arsenal hijack
Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has reacted to a message sent by his former Coventry teammate Gustavo Hamer.
Hamer, who now plays his football for Sheffield United, helped his side secure their place in the Championship play-off final, beating Bristol City 6-0 on aggregate.
The Blades had a three goal cushion from the first leg, in which Bristol City defender Rob Dickie was sent off for hauling down Kieffer Moore in the box.
Chris Wilder’s side, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, will face either Sunderland or Coventry at Wembley, as they aim for an instant return to the top flight.
The Black Cats have a 2-1 lead over Frank Lampard’s side going into the second leg of their semi-final at the Stadium of Light.

Hamer sends play-off final message
After comfortably making it through the play-off semi final, Hamer took to Instagram (13 May) to send Sheffield United fans a message.
The midfielder showed off a number of photos from the match against Bristol City, with the caption: “First mission complete. One more push altogether at Wembley.”
Hamer and Gyokeres reached the play-off final in 2023 when they were together at Coventry, ultimately losing out on penalties to Luton.
The Blades playmaker will hope to go one better this time around, and the Swedish striker liked the post to show his support.
Gyokeres draws Arsenal interest
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Arsenal have made Gyokeres their top target for this summer’s transfer window.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been crying out for a centre-forward, with both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz out injured at the moment.
However, the Gunners face heavy competition to land the Sporting man, with Manchester United confident they can sign Gyokeres instead.

Of course, Ruben Amorim worked with the Swedish international when he was in Portugal, and the Red Devils will hope that this is enough to convince the 26-year-old to choose Old Trafford over the Emirates.
The forward has scored an incredible 38 league goals in just 32 games for Sporting Lisbon this season, and both sides will be desperate to add that sort of firepower to their ranks.
