Vincent Kompany’s odds slashed to be next Manchester City manager amid new Pep Guardiola exit update
Vincent Kompany could be in line for a sensational return to Manchester City in the coming months.
The current Bayern Munich manager is on track to win his second Bundesliga title this season, with the German giants currently unbeaten at the top of the summit.
With the Bavarian side also performing well in the Champions League, the Man City legend will be hoping to pull off a famous treble this season.
However, his stay at Bayern may not last long, with Kompany continuing to be linked with the Man City job.

Vincent Kompany joint-favourite to take over at Manchester City
Speculation has heightened this past week over the future of Pep Guardiola at Man City.
The Spaniard has been linked with an exit from the Etihad, with Guardiola set to have a say on his successor at Man City.
- Kompany joined Bayern Munich in 2024 despite overseeing Burnley’s relegation to the Championship
- Last season, the 39-year-old oversaw a comfortable Bundesliga title victory
- Kompany has since been linked to the Man City job amid Guardiola exit speculation
This has seen Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca heavily linked to the Etihad in recent days after impressing at the Blues.
However, another potential contender seems to be Kompany.

As of 19 December, Kompany’s odds of becoming the next Man City manager have been slashed, with the defender now just 5/1 to take over.
This puts him joint-favourite, alongside Michel, Andoni Iraola and Maresca.
What has Kompany said on Man City speculation?
Speculation linking Kompany to Man City is not new, and has been rife for weeks.
Earlier this season, former Bayern president Uli Hoeness stated that Guardiola has informed Kompany he will be his successor as City manager.
When asked to comment on this claim, the former centre-back was quick to play down these rumours.
He told ESPN on 2 December: “I’ve often said, I’m not here to comment on Uli Hoeness’ statements.
“I have huge respect for him. But in football I can’t think that far ahead, my focus is on Bayern and what we can achieve now.
“I like to just live in the world I have in front of me now, that takes up all my time. I have zero thoughts about other teams, I only see FC Bayern.”
However, it remains to be seen if Kompany does go for ther job if it comes up this summer or in the forseeable future.
