Vinicius Junior: Real Madrid star locked in talks as Man City move mooted
Vinicius Junior remains keen to sign a new contract at Real Madrid despite long-standing interest in his services from Manchester City.
The Brazilian international has continued to prove his worth as one of the best players in the world at Madrid this season.
He has registered 28 goal contributions in 52 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos so far, with rumours emerging around his future ahead of the summer window.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Man City remain interested in the 25-year-old but he looks more likely to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu.

Vinicius is approaching the final year of his contract at Real, sparking widespread talk around his future and whether he wants to leave.
City would love the chance to sign Vinicius either in this summer or the next, but he admitted earlier this week that he is already at his “dream club”, so an extension looks likely.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “We have this pretty much every summer with Vinicius Junior really, that there could be a potential move away from Madrid.
“He always remains, and he’s locked in talks over a new deal with Real Madrid, but nothing agreed as yet. So just think it’s a case of the two parties getting a deal ironed out.
“Obviously, he wants to be brought in line with the likes of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid. He came out this week and admitted that he’s open to extending his stay at the Bernabeu.
“If he was to ever leave Real Madrid, there’s only a certain select few clubs who could agree a deal for him because of the finances that will be in the contract for him as well.
“He’s probably looking at Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and then you’ll have the big boys in the Premier League, Manchester City and Manchester United, and there’s always been interest from the Saudi Pro League in Vinicius Junior as well.”

Vinicius Junior would be one of the most ambitious and expensive signings in the world for any club, and City are more likely to spend moderately sizeable fees on numerous players this summer.
Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Man City want to sign West Ham’s Fernandes and have joined the race for his services ahead of the summer.
Man United are also interested in the Portuguese international midfielder, with the Hammers potentially set to be forced to sell him if they are relegated from the Premier League.
