Virgil van Dijk sends four-word message to Liverpool fans after key development
Liverpool defender has taken to social media to say “The show goes on,” after going seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
The 33-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool took full advantage of Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to West London rivals Fulham by beating Leicester 3-1 on Boxing Day (December 26).
Leicester took a surprise lead at Anfield through Jordan Ayew, who capped a rapid counter-attack with a lovely turn and finish in the sixth minute.
Cody Gakpo bagged the equaliser just before the break, scoring his fourth Premier League goal of the season with a curling effort from just outside of the box to make it 1-1 at half-time.
Curtis Jones then got in on the action, scoring on his 100th Liverpool appearance to give Arne Slot’s side the lead before Mohamed Salah secured all three points in the 82nd minute.

The defender took to Instagram to celebrate their win over Leicester, letting fans know that the title race isn’t over yet, saying: “The show goes on.”

Liverpool travel to London to face West Ham in their last game of 2024 as they seek to further extend their lead at the top of the table.
Slot’s side will then host Ruben Amorim’s struggling Man United side in their first game of 2025 with their arch-rivals languishing down in 14th.
