Vitor Pereira and Wolves staff ‘go insane’ at Molineux v West Ham, never seen before
Vitor Pereira stunned onlookers on the sidelines as Wolves claimed a vital 1-0 win over Graham Potter’s West Ham side on Tuesday night.
Jorgen Strand Larsen netted his 10th Premier League goal of the season on 1 April, helping the Midlands club secure back-to-back league wins against Leicester City and the Hammers to all but secure top-flight safety.
Cunha, who has been Wolves’ biggest star this season, was unavailable due to suspension, but with the East London side struggling to create many chances, it was a precious win for Pereira’s side.
All three points have almost guaranteed Premier League football next season, with Ipswich Town now 12 points adrift in the relegation zone, and Clinton Morrison could not quite believe what he was seeing on the touchline at Molineux Stadium as Pereira and his bench erupted at the final whistle.
Vitor Pereira completed the impossible after replacing Gary O’Neil
Speaking live via Sky Sports Soccer Special [1 April, 9:39pm], Morrison said: “Game over. West Ham were nowhere near it. Wolves are safe for another season in the Premier League. It’s a massive result for Wolves.
“They were celebrating on the bench. I’ve never seen coaches celebrate the way their coaches were celebrating, so they know what it means to them. That’s 12 points now, but Ipswich would need snookers and I just can’t see Ipswich doing it.”
Express & Star’s Wolves reporter Liam Keen had already relayed via X that Pereira and his staff had been “going insane” on the bench looking to get the crowd to will them over the line, and it only continued after the points were secured.
Gary O’Neil was sacked by Wolves in December, and the team have now claimed six league victories, including wins over Man United, Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
Wolves fight to live another season in the Premier League
Football Insider verdict
Pereira was given an almost-impossible task of keeping the club in the Premier League, but the former Al Shabab and Flamengo manager looks to have achieved exactly that at Molineux Stadium.
Premier League standings | Points |
16. West Ham | 34 |
17. Wolves | 29 |
18. Ipswich Town | 17 |
While there are still a handful of matches before the season ends, supporters will already be shifting their focus to the summer transfer market, with a number of stars being linked with exits.
Football Insider understands that Liverpool have set their sights on Cunha’s signature, though Yerson Mosquera and Joao Gomes have put pen to paper on new deals recently.

That is exactly the kind of good news the supporters and the managers need ahead of what is likely going to be a tough 2025/26 campaign, but after being West Ham, Championship football no longer seems to be a worry.
Falling down to the second tier of English football would almost certainly mean losing several high-profile stars, but if they can keep hold of most of them other than Cunha, they have the building blocks needed to move forward.
