Vitor Pereira ‘increasingly likely’ to be sacked by Wolves

Vitor Pereira is facing an increasingly unstable situation at Wolves as calls for his head continue to grow following their disastrous start to the season.

Pereira’s side lost 3-2 to Burnley at Molineux on 26 October, despite having come back from 2-0 down in the first half, after Lyle Foster’s 95th-minute winner.

Wolves are still winless in the Premier League after nine games played, and are in danger of being cut off after the gap extended to six points from safety.

As a result, pressure is ramping up on the manager, as Football Insider revealed on 24 October that Pereira is edging closer to being sacked by Wolves after recent results.

Their next Premier League game comes as they face Fulham at Craven Cottage, and another defeat would see them cut further adrift at the bottom of the table.

Vitor Pereira faces ‘serious’ Wolves sack threat

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 26 October that Wolves’ ownership are assessing Pereira’s position after a Chinese delegation jetted in for the game.

While they remain keen to stick by the manager in the hope he can turn things around, there is a growing feeling he will be sacked after the fans turned on him.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the owners have now been given a “serious” decision to make.

It’s getting more and more likely, to be honest,” he told Football Insider.

“Whenever you’re down there and you’re losing games, and it feels like there’s no way things are going to change, you’re always in danger.

“Going nine games without a win, whoever you are, puts you at serious risk of being sacked.

“The issues they’ve had over the weekend with the fans, arguing with them after the game and all that sort of thing, it’s never going to do him any favours.

“If their results don’t pick up soon, I can’t see him having long left there.

“The fans have turned against him, the results aren’t going his way, so the board will be left with a decision to make and, more often than not, we know how that goes.”

Football Insider revealed on 27 October that Pereira has three games to save his job at Wolves and will be given until the international break to turn things around.

Pereira and Wolves stars clash with fans at Molineux

The atmosphere at Molineux is growing increasingly volatile following their latest defeat, with the manager and his players clashing with fans at full-time.

Former Southampton forward Matt Le Tissier told Football Insider on 27 October that Pereira should never have confronted the fans, and has only made the issue worse.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Pereira has broken the “golden rule” at Wolves by publicly criticising the supporters in his post-game press conference.

Following the defeat against Burnley, he hit out at the Wolves fans as he ranted: “Two months ago they sang my name, because together with the work we did last season… Now they sing my name to sack me.” [via Sky Sports]

Matchday captain Jorgen Strand Larsen also confronted the home supporters, while Jose Sa was involved in an angry altercation outside the stadium as he tried to drive home.
