Vitor Pereira makes new Wolves transfer demand amid board talks

Vitor Pereira is keen to be backed heavily by Wolves chiefs in the upcoming summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (14 April) that all parties are happy to sit down and discuss a contract extension for Pereira – whose current deal expires in June 2026.

However, the Portuguese boss wants suitable transfer backing this summer with the 56-year-old wary of another relegation battle in the 2025-26 campaign.

Pereira fears losing players like Matheus Cunha, Joao Gomes and Rayan Ait-Nouri without suitable replacements could put Wolves on the back foot next term.

Pereira fears losing three Wolves stars this summer

He has already proved his management credentials at Wolves, who were 19th in the Premier League when he arrived – but are now 16th and 14 points clear of the relegation zone.

However, top scorer Cunha is attracting interest from top clubs in England – including Arsenal, who could activate his £62.5million release clause this summer.

Meanwhile, Gomes has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Ait-Nouri will have just 12 months left to run on his contract in June.

Pereira was afforded the signings of Emmanuel Agbadou, Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga in January – with centre-back Agbadou proving an instant hit in the Premier League.

The former Saudi Pro League boss has endeared himself to Wolves fans after making a series of appearances in city centre pubs after positive results.

Wolves watch ‘Europe’s best goalkeeper’ in action

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (9 April) that Wolves, Newcastle and Brentford are among a host of clubs checking on Ivory Coast shot-stopper Yahia Fofana.

Talent spotters from the Premier League cast an eye over the Angers goalkeeper during their clash at Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

Fofana is regarded as one of the best young keepers in Europe and has the best post-shot expected goals (PSxG) record of any goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues this term.
