Wan-Bissaka could be frozen out at Man United after major development – pundit
Diogo Dalot can make the right-back berth at Man United his own following Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s injury, according to Kevin Phillips.
The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the position is “up for grabs” under new boss Ralf Rangnick.
Wan-Bissaka, 24, was stretchered off the field as Man United were held at home against Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday (8 December).
Rangnick confirmed he is a doubt for the trip to Norwich on Sunday (12 December).
Phillips insisted the youngster can leapfrog the “dodgy” Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order at Man United.
“Dalot can make that position his own under Rangnick,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“There have been question marks hanging over Wan-Bissaka’s head ever since he joined. He’s very good defensively, very rarely gets beaten one-v-one – but he’s still learning in other areas.
“His positioning can be dodgy and has been called into question at times. Going forward, I don’t think he is as polished as Man United would like.
“That right-back role is definitely up for grabs for anyone who wants to go out and take their chance. It’s a real opportunity for Dalot in this new regime if he can impress the manager.”
Dalot has started the Red Devils’ last two Premier League games.
In an interview with club media on Sunday (5 December), the 22-year-old insisted he will “continue to give everything” to prove himself to Rangnick.

He has played just 44 times for Man United since signing in 2018.
The defender spent last season on loan with AC Milan.
In other news, pundit claims Rangnick can ‘transform’ Man United man into a star – and this is how.
