Wataru Endo links up with ex-Liverpool ‘amigo’ on other side of the world

Wataru Endo has sent a heart-warming message to one of his former Liverpool teammates after the pair met up on holiday.

The midfielder played an important role for the Reds as they claimed the Premier League title this season, regularly coming off the bench to help Arne Slot‘s side hold on for some crucial wins.

That came after Wolves decided not to move for Endo in the January transfer window, and there are still two years remaining on his contract at Anfield.

Following the end of the club campaign, the Liverpool midfielder was in action for Japan as they successfully completed their World Cup qualifying campaign earlier this month.

Wataru Endo catches up with Adrian

Having finished his international duty with Japan, the 32-year-old is now enjoying a well-earned break ahead of pre-season.

That has seen him link up again with a former Liverpool star, in the form of goalkeeper Adrian, who left the club last summer, just a year after Endo had arrived at the club.

The Spaniard has spent this season at Real Betis and featured against Chelsea in the Europa Conference League final last month.

With the goalkeeper now also taking a break this summer, he recently posted a picture to his Instagram story of himself alongside Endo while on holiday, describing the pair as “Football amigos”.

Responding to that, the Liverpool midfielder shared that post to his own story, along with a caption that read: “Great to see you Amigo. Enjoy the rest of the time in Japan”.

Football Insider Verdict

It is going to be interesting to see exactly how things play out for Endo between now and the start of next season.

Liverpool are keen to invest heavily in their squad this summer, and midfield is not an area where they are short of options.

As a result, given he is not a regular starter, you wonder whether he could emerge as a candidate to be moved on in order to make room in the squad for those other incomings.

Indeed, Endo himself could also be open to such a deal, since he may want the chance to start games on a more consistent basis elsewhere.

If that proves to be the case and he does become available, the level of performance he has produced during his time with Liverpool means there ought to be no shortage of interest from other clubs.
