Watch: Liverpool fans react on Twitter as Sadio Mane strikes again
By Will Butcher
Liverpool fans are celebrating on Twitter after Sadio Mane scored his second African Cup of Nations goal for Senegal in as many matches.
Mane struck in the ninth minute as Senegal secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe on Thursday night, which saw Newcastle midfielder Henri Saivet double Senegal’s lead.
Liverpool’s £35million summer signing scored Senegal’s first goal of their AFCON campaign on Sunday from the penalty spot, as Senegal beat Congo 2-0.
The win against Zimbabwe sees Mane and the rest of his Senegal side qualify for the knockout stage of AFCON with a game to spare, as they sit three points clear of second placed Tunisia.
Liverpool fans reacted in awe of Mane on Twitter, while some were disappointed that Mane’s sparkling form will see him remain Africa for a while longer instead of returning to Merseyside.

Scoring on his debut against Arsenal in a 4-3 win back in August, Mane has remained as the Reds top scorer with nine goals this season in just 21 league and cup appearances.
Mane is now set to feature in a tough test against Algeria on Monday, as he looks to add to his tally for the tournament against the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and Nabil Bentaleb.
In other Liverpool news, Paul Merson has predicted the Reds’ Saturday clash against Swansea in the Premier League.
