Medical expert names Ismaila Sarr return date as ‘alarm bells sounding’ at Watford

The explosive nature of Ismail Sarr’s game means Watford will not risk bringing him back from injury for at least three weeks.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Sarr, who is sidelined with a hamstring complaint, was absent for the Hornets’ 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Wolves last night (10 March).

Per the Evening Standard after the game, Roy Hodgson revealed Sarr’s chances of playing at Southampton on Sunday (13 March) are “very slim.”

Dinnery suggests that it could be over three weeks before the Senegalese winger is back in action.

It was always going to be difficult to see him play in either of the last two games,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“If we’re looking at the low end, it could easily be three weeks. You have to factor in his recent history with injuries this season as well.

“You just have to handle these hamstring issues so, so carefully. Sarr is a very explosive, creative winger.

“His game is based around creating a yard of space, isolating defenders in a one-on-one, using that skill and acceleration.

“Given his player profile, that sounds alarm bells.

You need to make sure players are 100 per cent or you’re risking another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Sarr has registered five goals and one assist in 16 appearances this term.

Watford are 19th in the league table, three points from safety.
