Watford plot move to sign Luton Town star Joe Taylor – sources
Luton Town striker Joe Taylor is wanted by multiple Championship clubs this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Watford are among the interested clubs, and the centre-forward could make the permanent move to Vicarage Road despite the club’s rivalry with Luton.
Taylor, 21, impressed out on loan last season as he finished as the top scorer at both Colchester and Lincoln City despite spending just half a season at each club.
The Wales under-21 international arrived at Kenilworth Road in January 2023 but has made just six appearances for the Hatters.
Watford among clubs plotting move to sign Joe Taylor from Luton Town
Taylor made the move from Peterborough to Luton in 2023 before he was sent out on loan just six months later, following their promotion to the Premier League.
The initial loan spell with Colchester saw the forward impress despite his club’s lowly league position as he bagged 12 goals and two assists in 27 games across all competitions.
Given his form in comparison to the League Two club’s struggles, Luton triggered a break clause in his deal and facilitated the step up to League One with Lincoln City.
In his time with the Imps, Taylor scored ten goals and provided three assists in just 19 games, with the club narrowly missing out on the playoff places.
Having already shown he is capable of taking a step up in quality, Championship outfits are now willing to give him a chance to take the next step in his career.

Interest from Watford comes following the departure of Ashley Fletcher who joined Blackpool after making 28 appearances for the Hornets last season.
After a disappointing 15th-placed finish last time out, Tom Cleverley could now turn to Taylor to inspire a push up the table.
In other news, Watford have also made a move to sign Ar’jany Martha.
