Watkins tipped for new Aston Villa role after update today - pundit
Ollie Watkins could line up on the wing for Aston Villa against Chelsea this weekend, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender claimed Watkins’ pace and energy means he could be pushed out wide to accommodate Ings.
Dean Smith revealed in his press conference today (10 September) ahead of the Chelsea game that Watkins is fully fit and available.
The 25-year-old made his first appearance of the season against Brentford prior to the international break from the bench.
He missed just one Premier League game last term but was unavailable for the opening two fixtures this term because of
Aston Villa added Ings from Southampton in a £30million deal over the summer and he has hit the ground running.

The pair played together for 11 minutes in Villa’s 1-1 draw with Brentford at Villa Park.
Asked if they could form a lethal front two against Chelsea, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, or Watkins can play out wide.
“Watkins can play on the left or the right. We’ve seen him do that before.
“He’s got pace, he’s got energy. Ings is the out and out goalscorer.
“The way that front players work in this day and age with the fluidity that they have in a front three.
“Yes, without a doubt, they can play together and will cause defences problems.”
Watkins scored 16 times and provided five assists in 40 games across all competitions last term and earned his first England cap as a result of his performances.
Ings has already scored twice for Villa and his bicycle kick against Newcastle United won the Premier League goal of the month award for August.
