‘We are winning this’, ‘Best news there is’ – Arsenal fans react as Liverpool star ruled out of Anfield showdown

Arsenal fans have breathed a huge sigh of relief after Jurgen Klopp confirmed that their “serial slayer” Diogo Jota will miss their showdown at Anfield on Saturday (22 December).

The Portuguese forward has been a consistent thorn in the Gunners’ side, having bagged eight goals and one assist against them in all competitions.

He last netted against them when Liverpool demolished Arsenal 4-0 at home in 2021, but fans are ecstatic to see he will not have the chance to extend his impressive record.

Klopp admitted that the 27-year-old was close to returning but will not be available for the Reds after missing their last four Premier League games with a muscle injury.

If either side win the clash, they will end the game week at the summit of the table, but a draw and an Aston Villa victory over Sheffield United on Friday night (21 December) would see neither team lead the league on Christmas.

Arsenal have only managed one victory in their last seven games in all competitions, but Mikel Arteta’s side will be desperate to grow their points total to 42.

Liverpool will also be without Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Matip and long-term absentees Andy Robertson and Thiago Alcantara, but have been boosted by the return of Ryan Gravenberch.

But Gunners fans are mostly concerned with Jota and have taken to social media full of confidence that they can get themselves a rare result in Merseyside.
