Welsey Fofana shares injury update after devastating Chelsea blow

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana took to social media to share an injury update with the fans after his most recent setback.

The 24-year-old has been out of action with a hamstring injury since Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa earlier in the season, subsequently missing their last 15 games across all competitions.

Fofana missed the entirety of last season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in pre-season, totaling 51 games across all competitions.

Enzo Maresca had previously claimed the centre-back could miss the rest of the 2024-35 campaign but Fofana has since returned to training on grass.

Some Chelsea fans took to social media to urge the club to sell Fofana, alongside captain Reece James, due to their ongoing injury issues.

Chelsea have since recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace to help provide depth at the heart of their defence.

Fofana had been a key player for Maresca before his injury, starting all 12 of his games across all competitions, and failing to provide a goal contribution in his 1017 minutes of game time.

Fofana took to Instagram to share an image of himself training in what could be a major boost to Chelsea’s Champions League ambitions.

Maresca’s side are currently going through somewhat of an injury crisis, with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu out of action for the foreseeable future.

Christopher Nkunku is their only current number nine option as they prepare for a Premier League clash with Brighton on Friday (February 14), just six days after the South Coast club knocked them out of the FA Cup.
