Wesley Fofana already finished as Chelsea scouts jet out of Stamford Bridge
Wesley Fofana may have finally run out of luck at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea prepare for the January transfer window.
The Frenchman has just seven Premier League starts to his name in 2025-26, having only made a total of 14 appearances last term, enduring an extremely injury-hit few years.
Levi Colwill has been sidelined from the start of the season, leaving Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah as the trusted centre-back partnership for the majority of matches.
Many Chelsea fans have called for Josh Acheampong to be given a chance by Enzo Maresca, but that is unlikely to happen after the latest update emerging from France.

Before last summer, Mick Brown informed Football Insider that Chelsea were open to offers for Fofana, with several Saudi Pro League sides interested in the centre-back’s signature.
Despite his injuries, that interest is unlikely to have gone away, with teams in the Middle East happy to splash big cash on players like the 25-year-old, who need a fresh start.
Chelsea have been tipped to spend big in January, which will not be to the surprise of very many Premier League fans, and that could quickly become the beginning of the end for Fofana.

According to Le Parisien (19 December), the Blues are already at the front of the queue for Rennes’ Jeremy Jacquet, sending scouts on multiple occasions to watch the 20-year-old defender.

It is understood that the Ligue 1 side are aware of the interest from West London, given their presence at games this season, along with several other European giants.
Unsurprisingly, the Rennes coach wants Jacquet to remain at the club, at least until the end of the campaign, so it could be quite a big fee to claim the youngster’s signature next month.
It is incredibly obvious just how talented the 20-year-old is, and also why so many teams are after his signature, meaning Chelsea could be facing quite the battle.
Maresca is clearly desperate for reinforcement in the backline. Fofana is just not dependable enough, while others have been completely ostracised.
A shakeup appears to be needed, and that could mean farewell for Fofana.
