‘West Ham and Fulham eye battle for Euro ace as release clause emerges’

West Ham and Fulham look set for a transfer battle this summer over one of the best-performing players at Werder Bremen this season.

Graham Potter is preparing himself for a full-scale rebuild at the London Stadium ahead of the transfer window, with Tim Steidten’s last actions as technical director leaving the squad with a lot of deadweight.

While Niclas Fullkrug has improved at West Ham recently, Luis Guilherme, Guido Rodriguez, and Crysencio Summerville have all been disappointing additions during the 2024/25 campaign.

Marco Silva, on the other hand, has been tipped to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham due to working wonders at Craven Cottage, but he will be keen to strengthen his squad if he remains.

One of the biggest transfer rumours for the Cottagers suggests that Antonee Robinson could be set for a move away, which makes the latest transfer link to the Werder Bremen star complete sense.

Felix Agu attracts attention from Premier League duo

According to Sky Sports Germany (16 April), West Ham and Fulham are monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation in the Bundesliga, with teams in Italy also showing an interest.

It is understood that the full-back’s current deal includes a release clause, which is active until the end of May, seeing him available for between €8million (£6.87m) and €10million (£8.59m).

Following his strong campaign for Bremen, the Nigerian federation are keen to invite the German youth international to a training course for their national team.

Football Insider verdict

Both Premier League sides have every right to be excited by the prospect of signing Agu because, while he is clearly not first-choice at Bremen, his talents are undeniable.

Playing as a flying full-back, which would be absolutely perfect for Potter’s new tactics in East London, Agu has netted three times in his 20 appearances this season.

In fact, he has scored more this season than ever before in his career at Bremen, and given the uncertainties over the left-wing-back position for Potter, he could be perfect for the Hammers.

While Emerson Palmieri has been a regular under each of the last two managers, he has often found himself on the bench under Potter’s reign, with Ollie Scarles finally given a chance in the first team.

Despite this, not all supporters are convinced by the 19-year-old academy graduate following his breakout season, and Agu could be the perfect answer to that position ahead of the 2025/26 season.
