West Ham are a ‘well-run club’ and fans are wrong about their stadium complaints and David Sullivan and Karren Brady whinges
West Ham fans have been told to be “careful what you wish for” after a new letter has been sent to the club’s David Sullivan and Karren Brady-led board.
The supporters have long been fierce critics of West Ham’s ownership group since making the move from Upton Park to the London Stadium in 2016.
West Ham’s fan advisory board sent a letter of no confidence to the club’s board on 29 August before it was made public on 3 September.
The letter, which was signed by 11 supporters’ groups, read that the “ageing uncompetitive squad, inadequate scouting infrastructure and a derided training facility” is “unacceptable” and is evidence of “sustained failure on behalf of the executive management”.
However, finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the Hammers fans are “unrealistic” in their expectations.

West Ham spending power claim emerges
A potential West Ham takeover has been talked about for several months following the club’s struggles to consistently compete in the top half of the Premier League table.
David Sullivan currently holds a 38.8 per cent share in the club, while Daniel Kretinsky’s stake is worth 27 per cent, the Gold family own 25.1 per cent and Albert “Tripp” Smith retains an eight per cent shareholding at the London Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “Well, I think it’s another one where you’ve got to be careful what you wish for.
“I think West Ham fans are unrealistic in terms of the future of the club and maybe they should spend more money. I mean, that’s always possible and, if you want to compete these days, you probably have to.
“But they make loads of complaints about the stadium and all this sort of stuff. They are not going back to Upton Park, it’s never going to happen. I’ve been to the Olympic Stadium a number of times to see matches and I’ve always thought it was fine.
“I’m not a home fan, so I sit in the away end, but I’ve always thought the atmosphere was fine. I’ve always thought the facility was fine. It’s brand new.

“I don’t know what the complaints are, but it’s not an old rickety stadium with all the atmosphere and smells of an old rickety stadium, but we’re in 2025. I don’t know, they’re never going back there, so that is a wasted breath.
“They are very well run, relatively. I know that’s hard for West Ham fans to take because the football generally has not been at the level that they wanted, it’s just that unfortunately they’re a victim of being in that group of clubs just below the top six or eight.
“It’s very hard to break into the top six or eight without spending probably another £100million on wages a year, and then let’s say another £150million in amortisation and transfer fees a year.”
West Ham make move for Frank Lampard
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 5 September West Ham have sounded out Frank Lampard as a potential replacement for Graham Potter.
Intermediaries representing the Hammers are believed to have put out feelers to the Coventry City boss before their 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Potter has been in charge at the London Stadium since replacing Julen Lopetegui in January.
