West Ham backed to sign next Bowen after £25m report – pundit

West Ham could sign another Jarrod Bowen in Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong this summer, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted David Moyes would be able to bring the best out of the 24-year-old Rovers ace.

As reported by the Sun, the Irons are in hot pursuit of the £25million-hitman ahead of the summer transfer window.

The striker only has one year left on his contract but Blackburn are said to be hopeful of agreeing new terms.

Whelan heralded David Moyes’ willingness to raid the Championship in the transfer market, with Bowen now a mainstay in east London.

He suggested Armstrong could follow in the former Hull star’s shoes this summer.

“We’ve seen beforehand that David Moyes isn’t afraid of dipping into the Championship to get players,” Whelan told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“He did it before, didn’t he, with Jarrod Bowen from Hull. Look at how he’s progressed in his career, how well he’s settled into the Premier League. It’s brought out the best in him.

“It could be another one of those players from the Championship that thrives underneath. David Moyes.

“He’s (Armstrong) not proven in the Premier League but he has progressed. He does stand out there for Blackburn Rovers.”

Armstrong has scored 28 goals in 40 Championship appearances this season.

Meanwhile, Bowen featured in every one of West Ham’s league games this term, scoring eight goals and contributing five assists.
