The West Ham board will back David Moyes with a “transfer war chest” this summer if they finish in the top four.

That is the view of former Spurs and England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the investment needed to cement the Irons place as a top-six side.

The Hammers leapfrogged Chelsea into fourth last night, as they survived a late Wolves comeback to win 3-2 at Molineux.

Speaking to Sky Sports on West Ham’s success this season, Aaron Cresswell heaped praise on 2020 signings Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Jarrod Bowen.

Robinson is adamant further investment into the squad is needed this summer, especially if Champions League qualification is secured.

“It is absolutely vital West Ham back David Moyes with big transfer funds in the summer if they finish in the top four,” he told Football Insider. “They have to back the manager.

“They have backed him to an extent this year and the job he has done is nothing short of phenomenal. To think they were close to relegation last season, it’s incredible.

“I think the board will give Moyes a war chest in the summer if they finish in the Champions League spots, they have to.

“They have to make sure this is not a one-off season. The West Ham fans do not just want a one-off season, they want to build upon this season and become a side that regularly challenges for the top-four.”
