Gold: This is how many West Ham players will miss Liverpool clash, 28-year-old returns

By Will Butcher

David Gold has revealed that seven West Ham players are sidelined ahead of their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Slaven Bilic’s side play host to the Merseyside giants after beating London rivals Tottenham last time out with a 1-0 victory thanks to playmaker Manuel Lanzini’s second-half strike.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, co-owner Gold revealed seven players are to miss the match against Liverpool.

The BBC claim that those are Mark Noble, Cheikhou Kouyate, Andy Carroll, Michail Antonio, Pedro Obiang, Diafra Sakho and Arthur Masuaku.

However, he did reveal that 28-year-old defender Angelo Ogbonna is set to return to the side after overcoming a knee injury that has seen him sidelined since January.

Antonio and Carroll both miss out with muscle injuries, while captain Noble is set to undergo abdominal surgery. Kouyate misses out after going under the knife to correct a wrist problem.

Obiang has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle problem, while Sakho suffered a knock after last appearing against Everton and Masuaku has a foot injury.

However, the return of ex-Juventus ace Ogbonna will give Bilic a huge boost amid his Hammers injury problems, as he looks for his side to go one better than their 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Three points at the London Stadium for the home side could see them climb into the top half of the table, leapfrogging Leicester and Bournemouth into 10th place.

In other West Ham news, Bilic is set to meet the demands of this South American star.
