West Ham boss David Moyes hailed by pundit after £196m reveal

Paul Robinson has insisted David Moyes is under no pressure at West Ham despite the club having spent heavily in the summer transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Moyes, 59, has “a lot of credit in the bank” from the last two seasons.

The Hammers are 18th in the Premier League table having won just one of their first six fixtures.

The London club have spent heavily in the summer transfer window bringing in the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd, Maxwel Cornet, Emerson, Thilo Kehrer, Flynn Downes and Alphonse Areola.

According to CIES Football Observatory (2 September), the Irons have the sixth highest net spend (£196million) of any club in Europe in 2022.

When asked by Football Insider if the sizeable backing puts pressure on Moyes to deliver this season, Robinson said: “Moyes has a lot of credit in the bank.

“Yes, the performances this season have not been great but they have overachieved in the last two seasons.

“I was at the Brighton game and that was their poorest performance of the season. That was not a David Moyes team.

West Ham

“They deserved a lot more against Chelsea though. The first half was very poor from both sides but West Ham played well in the second half. The officials cost them a result.

“I think it is only a matter of time before they start picking up points. I don’t think Moyes is under any pressure though.”
