West Ham could be forced to accept ‘huge Jarrod Bowen offer’ after new twist

West Ham could be forced to accept offers from Jarrod Bowen in the summer window if they suffer relegation from the Premier League.

That is according to former West Ham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his previous clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that a “huge” offer could tempt the Hammers to cash in.

A number of clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation, including long-term admirers Liverpool and Newcastle, in case he becomes available.

West Ham lost 2-1 to Nottingham Forest last time out, leaving them stranded in the relegation zone and seven points adrift of safety as things stand.

Bowen, the Hammers’ club captain, remains a crucial part of the starting XI but is unlikely to want to play in the Championship if bigger offers arrive.

Jarrod Bowen could leave West Ham on one condition

Brown told Football Insider last month that Bowen is unlikely to leave West Ham and is keen to stick around, but that cannot be guaranteed if they are relegated.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that clubs are keen to test the water and will make moves if the Hammers go down.

Don’t be surprised if somebody comes in for Jarrod Bowen,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s not something I think will happen in January, but he certainly has admirers and they’ll be on alert with West Ham looking like they could be relegated.

“If they go down, and somebody makes a huge offer, there could well be some movement.

“He’s not going to be happy playing in the Championship if there are Champions League clubs in for him, and I know Liverpool and Newcastle have looked at him before.

“If West Ham stay up, he will have played a big part in that and I’m sure he will be happy to stick around, but if they are relegated that could all change.

“He’s happy at the club, that’s why he signed a big contract and in normal circumstances I think he’d be happy to stick around, but these aren’t normal circumstances.”

West Ham’s January transfer plans revealed

Despite previously claiming to have little funds to spend, the Hammers have enjoyed a strong start to the window, having completed two deals already.

Alongside the big-money signing of Pablo, West Ham have signed Taty Castellanos from Lazio, with a combined £48million spent on strikers this window.

The position had been a clear issue for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side, but questions are lingering about whether those additions were the right ones to make.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 6 January that West Ham want a new centre-back before the end of the window to address a major concern.

There are particular concerns surrounding the form of Max Kilman, who has been slammed by West Ham fans, with some insisting he should never play for the club again.
