West Ham could now fix January error with ‘excellent’ Arnaut Danjuma signing – La Liga expert

Arnaut Danjuma would be a “really good signing” for West Ham as they attempt to patch the “holes” in their squad.

That is the view of former Arsenal striker and La Liga TV pundit Kevin Campbell, who was speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the former Bournemouth forward.

According to The Guardian (26 June), West Ham have approached Villarreal about signing Danjuma, 25, this summer but face stiff competition for his signature.

He reportedly has a £38million release clause in his contract with the Spanish club – which expires in 2026.

Danjuma can play at centre-forward and on the left-wing – and scored 10 league goals in the 2021/22 campaign.

Campbell backed David Moyes to put right his January transfer mistake after pursuing “unrealistic” targets in the winter window.

“He’s done excellently at Villarreal,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“West Ham had a really good run in the Europa League – but we know they didn’t quite finish off the season as well as they would have hoped.

“There were holes in their squad. They didn’t go for it in January because the targets they had were probably unrealistic.

“But we’re in summer now and it’s time to fatten that squad up. This the time to do that.

“Moyes has proven himself in the transfer market before and Danjuma would be a really good signing.”

Centre-back Nayef Aguerd has already wrapped up a move to the London Stadium this summer.

West Ham will play in the Europa Conference League in the 2022/23 season.
