West Ham could sell Gianluca Scamacca – sources
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca could return to Italy this summer just 12 months after moving to England, sources have told Football Insider.
A recruitment source has told this site that a host of Italian sides are ready to offer the former Sassuolo star, 24, the chance to return to Serie A in the off-season.
Scamacca’s big-money move to West Ham is yet to come to fruition, and the Irons are now considering bolstering their strikeforce with yet another signing.
It is believed that if another striker arrives at the club this summer, funds may have to be raised through the sale of an existing forward.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (17 May) that West Ham and a host of other interested Premier League sides could land Strasbourg hitman Habib Diallo for a fee of £20million this summer.
The Irons – along with representatives from Crystal Palace, Brighton, Brentford and Fulham – watched Diallo in action as he scored a brace in a win over Nice on Saturday (13 May).
The Senegal international, 27, has now hit 20 Ligue 1 goals this season.
Meanwhile, Scamacca has hit just three Premier League goals in 16 outings during the 2022-23 campaign.
The Italy international, cost a reported £35.5million last summer (2022), has had more success in European competition – notching a further five goals in nine Europa Conference League games.
Scamacca earns a reported wage of £90,000-a-week on his contract at the London Stadium, which runs until June 2027.
He last featured for the Irons in March, with knee surgery ruling him out for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (16 May) that West Ham striker Danny Ings is unlikely to leave the club this summer despite their search for a new striker.
Meanwhile, Michail Antonio – who is the club’s top scorer this term with 13 goals – could depart in the off-season after nearly exiting in the January window.
