West Ham in talks with PL rivals over cut-price transfer of wantaway player – report
By Russell Edge
Crystal Palace are in talks with West Ham as they look to secure a £3million deal for goalkeeper Adrian, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim on their website that the Eagles’ manager Frank de Boer is looking to bolster his options between the sticks, and has identified the Spanish stopper as an ideal recruit.
The 30-year-old is said to be keen on securing an exit from the London Stadium in search of first team football, with loan signing Joe Hart set to be the first choice in goal this season.
As a result, Palace are said to be looking to secure a deal of just £3million, which, for a Premier League stopper with 106 top flight appearances under his belt, is a relative bargain.
He arrived at West Ham on a free transfer, and has turned out 123 times across all competitions, starting and finishing last season as Slaven Bilic’s first choice amid a period out of the starting XI.
Football Insider verdict
While Adrian will be looking to secure a move away from the club this summer, West Ham must do everything in their power to keep a hold of the 30-year-old. His experience and knowledge of the club will be invaluable, and if injury, suspension or poor form hits Joe Hart, he will be first in line to make the step up, with the club having already let Darren Randolph and Raphael Spiegel depart. Slaven Bilic needs to do everything he can to convince the Spanish stopper to stay, and if that is not an option, then he at least needs to have a capable replacement lined up.
