West Ham United are being linked with a summer move for Borussia Dortmund attacking-midfielder Shinji Kagawa and that could spell the exit of Manuel Lanzini from the club.
The Argentinian, a fan favourite of the Irons faithful, has been touted as a target for Liverpool this summer as the Reds continue to hunt for a replacement of Philippe Coutinho.
Lanzini, 25, is under contract at the London Stadium until 2020 but the Hammers are unlikely to be able to see off the financial might of the Reds.
And now, with the emergence of a proposed move for Kagawa, it would seem as though the East Londoners are already preparing for the exit of the attacker as they hunt for alternatives.
It’s not been a great season for the Argentine, who has spent large pockets of his time on the sidelines through injury and has only made 19 starts in the Premier League.
Nonetheless, he has still notched up three goals and six assists in the top-flight.
2016/17 was a much more prolific season for Lanzini in front of goal when he recorded eight goals for the Hammers.
Statistically, Kagawa can offer the Hammers more of a threat – 54 assists in 211 games for Dortmund to be exact – so if a good offer comes in for the Hammers attacker in the summer, they should accept.
