West Ham expected 4-2-3-1 v West Brom: First-team regular axed

By Dominic Toner

Angelo Ogbonna is set to replace first-team regular James Collins in the starting line-up against West Brom.

The Hammers travel to the Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday and Slaven Bilic will be searching for a better defensive performance than the one shown against Watford.

West Ham let a two-goal lead slip and suffered a 4-2 defeat to their London rivals, which was their third loss of the season.

Bilic will be desperate for a better performance from his backline and Welshman Collins is set to be the the player who misses out.

Centre-back Winston Reid is considered the club’s first-choice defender and Ogbonna could be given the opportunity to stake his claim against the Baggies.

West Ham are set to named an unchanged side apart from Collins with Sam Byram keeping his place ahead of new signing Alvaro Arbeloa, who is still working up to full fitness.

Reid and Arthur Masuaku will continue in the team, with senior player Aaron Cresswell sidelined with a long-term injury.

Midfield pairing Cheikhou Kouyate and Mark Noble are likely to continue in the team and have struck up a strong partnership in the middle of the park.

The club’s supporters are thrilled with the return of duo Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini to the side and they both looked lively in the first-half against Watford.

Michail Antonio must be Bilic’s first name on the team sheet though following his recent form, with the Englishman scoring two headed goals last weekend to add to his tally of four this season.

The club’s new forward Simone Zaza made his debut last Saturday and is expected to continue in the team following his £5million season-long loan move to the London Stadium, which could become permanent for a further £20million.

In other West Ham team news, the club’s midfielder has won an award after a brilliant star to the campaign.
